It angers us, it frightes us, we post stories on Instagram, upload pictures, demand for justice when something so gruesome happens. We only stand up, when an act so terribe is committed. But what have we been doing all throughout our lives? Aren't we as a society somehow, responsible for these henious crimes against women. How many times have we, bitched about somebody's daughter cause she had gone out with a male friend, called someone a slut cause she's dated a few men. How many time we've said, that she was being stared at because of the clothes she wore. Haven't we said, that she's a girl, so she's not supposed to have opinions. How many times have we asked only the girls in our families to do all the household work, while letting the men free, cause they're men. Some of us have educated our boys to be independent, and girls cause the degree would bring them better marriage proposals. Such misogyny! Their opinions, feelings, rights don't mean a thing. This deep rooted patriarchy that we've endorsed for centuries and still do has created this evil today. We as a society have failed in humanity. We never stood up when a husband beat up his wife, cause we said it's a family matter. We never stood up when a women was being shouted at, being abused by a man in broad daylight, because for us it was a petty matter. It is big enough to be spoken about by us, only when a women brutally gets assaulted and killed. Thats when do candle light marches, hold placards, rant on the social media, but we'll never talk about what we've done. We are all hypocrites!
