Tonight the Westminster Symphonic Choir gave their last performance of J.S. Bach’s B minor Mass with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, which is the culmination of a semester’s worth of work. The choir has been working since September to learn this masterwork and tonight we got to truly enjoy the fruits of our labor. I’ve done many professional orchestral performances and have sung much of the choral-orchestral repertoire, but tonight the music making hit me in a way I was not prepared for.
I will forever be in debt to Dr. Joe Miller, our fearless leader who not only taught us the music, but continues to inspire us everyday. Tonight I hugged him after the performance and he said. “Look what you did.” I’ve never been more honored to be a small of something. Dr. Miller hoped that we would be changed tonight and I totally was, but not just from the performance, but from all that came before the performance as well. It is all a part of this journey. Thank you @westminsterchoircollege @philorch @nezetseguin
